Meditation and the Autonomic Nervous System

In this 6-week meditation course we’ll explore what it means when we pay attention to the bedrock layer of our Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) in meditation. For many of us the usual meditation techniques are not always easy or even appropriate depending on who we are that day. If you are the scared and activated version of yourself you likely will not want to close your eyes or even sit still. And if you are disassociated or in some kind of shutdown, you may be happy just sitting quietly but will have no sense of aliveness or awareness present. In this course, we’ll practice discernment of what parts of our ANS are present and then practice techniques that are appropriate for us.
